Between February 3, 2016 and September 22, 2024 Louisville Metro Department of Corrections failed to timely release certain individuals in its custody. Some of these individuals brought claims on behalf of themselves and others who were subjected to unlawful over-detentions in Healey, et al. v. Louisville Metro Government, et al.

The parties have agreed to a fund of $20 million from which over-detained class members will be compensated. The timing of payment and compensation amounts have yet to be determined.
